Invitation, Context & Objectives: Ministry of Forests have invited Pinnacle Pursuits to help host them at Loon Lake for their employees during their overnight retreat in October.
Retreat Objectives:
- Build a better understanding of the breadth of our day-to-day work and the linkages between our teams
- Why are we a Branch? Work Plans, common goals/objectives
- Continue to build an understanding of BC’s commitment to reconciliation and how our work can advance that commitment.
- Get to know each other: build relationships and connections and have fun!
Proposed/Recommended Program/Format:
You had mentioned you’d like a ‘classroom day and a field day’, and that you’d self-organize your evening social time. You had requested we propose programming to fill one day, as you will be planning to have a day with UBC Research as well as some time possibly with the Katzie First Nations for an on the Land experience.
Based on this, we’d recommend a morning interactive workshop (possibly along with Serious Play) followed by an afternoon outdoor event or a series of activity choices. An agenda could look like the following:
Proposed Agenda:
MORNING:
9am - Welcome & Introductions, Icebreaker's, & Serious Play Activities with everyone together
945/10am - 12/12:30pm - Interactive Workshop
12:30-1:30pm - Either we choose:
1) A full group activity like Woodland Orienteering/Adventure Race or Team Spirit in the Field (for 2-3.5 hrs), OR
2) A shorter version of Option #1 above along with then hosting ‘Adventure Play - where we offer 4 different activities, and people can choose 1-2 preferences (based on logistics and dinner time), OR
3) We solely host ‘Adventure Play’ - where we offer 4 different activities, and people can choose 2-3 preferences (based on logistics and dinner time)

Investment & Costs:
For an event of this nature, the price for up to 48 people would range from $6,500-$9,000 for the full day, based on the workshop chosen ($4,000-4,500) and the afternoon activity/event agenda ($4,000-$5,500); 15% discount on full day program (plus GST). Cost includes program consultation/ design, planning and paperwork, full staff team, team-building supplies as necessary, $5 million comprehensive liability insurance, and full program management.

Serious Play
A series of fun indoor/outdoor facilitated activity-based team initiatives, for groups that require more focus on group dynamics, social interaction, team-work and fun! Competition is optional as is degree of facilitation (activity choice customized for each group based on group dynamics and training objectives).
Interactive Training Workshops
Facilitated personal and professional development training topics. These may include Strategic Visioning & Values, Clear Communication=Clear Leadership, Creativity & Collaboration, Leadership Assessment Profiles & more. These sessions are often customized to fit your specific group dynamics as well as your organizational culture, learning and development goals. We ensure the training is relevant, transferable, refreshing and fun!
Adventure Play
at Loon Lake, Maple Ridge
A series of various adventure-based experiences and options from which participants can choose (ie. canoeing, raft-building, archery, low ropes and high ropes, rock climbing) that will help get people out of the board room and make any meeting or conference refreshing, interactive and fun! Located at one of our partner 'Adventure-Centre': Loon Lake Lodge & Retreat Centre, Maple Ridge.
Team Spirit Challenge
An event where the whole group is together in the same area, and teams compete in series of unique high-energy, amazing ‘Survivor-like’ group challenges that require problem-solving, trust-building and creative teamwork solutions! With a fun, strength-based approach, this is a great event for including diverse needs and abilities. Always makes for awesome photos and memories!
Orienteering Challenge
In teams, participants learn to use traditional orienteering methods along with a ‘landmark legend’ and a set of guidelines, to navigate through their environment towards a variety of creative check point stations (mystery team challenges). The initiatives and will require teams to plan, strategize, communicate effectively, and regularly re-evaluate their decisions!
