Invitation, Context & Objectives:
Laurie Sallis, the Administrative Services Supervisor from the Office of the Chief Nursing Officer at FNHA inquired about training and development programs; as a consequence, and based on our conversation with Jonathan Willcocks, has invited Jonathan to propose a series of personal and professional development training workshops to meet key contexts and objectives to help the FNHA re-align with their mission and values, staff culture and operational objectives.
The FNHA is undergoing a massive re-build post COVID. The last few years has forced staff to spread out, creating an awkward and ineffective working dynamic and culture. To mitigate building pressures, the hope is to move from an ‘old-school’ mindset and approach to the workplace to more focused, purposeful, efficient, positive, healthy and sustainable processes.
The organization is going through a major change based on external pressures, expectations, and roles and positions are being effected, as these shifts occur.
To help create a fresh start and perspective, the hope is to enroll in a series of monthly sessions focused on navigating the current landscape and exploring what is going well and what is not; and ultimately seeing what is no longer serving the organization; and empower leadership and participants to own and accept what needs to be changed and then move forward with new tools with clarity, confidence and purpose.
Proposed Program Format & Content:
This will require further discussion and refinement. For now, the idea would be to create a program over 3-6 months that aligns with the following sequence of learning and development:
- Session 1: Full Day. Includes: Serious Play Team-Building; Setting the Foundation with Mission & Values Clarification and Alignment; Introduction to Leadership Framework
- Session 2: Half Day. Includes Clear Communication = Clear Leadership
- Session 3: Half Day. Team Understanding; Respect for Diversity in Leadership Styles, Personalities and Strengths, and overall Impact
- Session 4: Half Day. Decision-Making & Problem-Identification / Solving.
- Session 5: TBD – as required.
Note: Along with these topics, there would be regular team coaching with the main human resource personnel – as well as possibly the team - to help continue support, motivate and nurture the learning and transformation process.
Investment & Costs:
For a series of custom and interactive facilitated programs as outlined, price range is approximately $3,500 for a half-day program and $5,000 for a full day program; thus total for 4 foundational workshops (1 full day and 3 half day) would be $15,500. Custom 1:1 support/consulting is billed at $250/hr and team coaching billed at $550/hr. For any in-persons sessions, time for any return mileage/travel is billed at $100/hr. Costs do not include GST nor any required onsite venue/room set-up/AV needs, parking, accommodation and meals as necessary. If and once a program is approved, a 50% deposit for workshops and retainer invoice consulting/coaching will be sent out.

In-Person Team Building Programs Include...
Serious Play
A series of fun indoor/outdoor facilitated activity-based team initiatives, for groups that require more focus on group dynamics, social interaction, team-work and fun! Competition is optional as is degree of facilitation (activity choice customized for each group based on group dynamics and training objectives).
Team Spirit Challenge
An event where the whole group is together in the same area, and teams compete in series of unique high-energy, amazing ‘Survivor-like’ group challenges that require problem-solving, trust-building and creative teamwork solutions! This is a great event for including diverse needs and abilities.
Orienteering Challenge
In teams of 4-5, participants learn to use traditional orienteering methods (map and compass) along with a ‘landmark legend’ and a set of guidelines, to navigate through their environment towards a variety of creative check point stations (mystery team challenges). The combination of initiatives and will require teams to plan, strategize, communicate effectively, and regularly re-evaluate their decisions!
Amazing Adventure Race
Be ready for a high-impact adventure-based ‘scavenger hunt-style’ experience! Teams are given a map, legend, course and clues and compete in a unique team adventure challenge, racing through the local trails and beautiful wilderness setting whilst finding and completing strategically hidden and customized checkpoint challenges and team building initiatives.
Paddle & Play Day
Paddle & Play is a unique land & water team-building event that combines your choice of one or several of our land-based activities with either traditional Voyageur Canoes or Dragon Boating. Teams will divide and take turns being on land and on water. They will compete in a series of challenges where teamwork, strategy, problem solving, collaboration, and a sense of fun are key to team and organizational success.
Adventure Play at Loon Lake,
Maple Ridge
A series of various adventure-based experiences and options from which participants can choose (ie. canoeing, raft-building, archery, low ropes and high ropes, rock climbing). Located at one of our partner 'Adventure-Centre': Loon Lake Lodge & Retreat Centre, Maple Ridge.
