Location: Loon Lake Lodge & Retreat Centre in Maple Ridge, BC
Timing: 2 separate one-day events: 9am-5pm each day
Number of Participants: 10 staff participants: average health and fitness abilities, some more competitive than others.
Summary of Invitation, Context & Objectives: Mandy Nider from Connective (formerly John Howard Society) has invited Jonathan and Pinnacle Pursuits to work with the 20 staff from two Connective residential group homes team for two one-day retreat days at Loon Lake
Retreat Logistics: These are sequential one day events, that we are proposing to make progressive . The Loon Lake booking is from approx. 9-5pm each day. Exact indoor workshop location space TBD.
The Group & People: There are 20 staff from two residential group homes, including 2 staff managers (one form each home). They include full-time and part-time staff. People are relatively happy, healthy and fit, know each other well, work well together, and get along.
Hopes and Goals for this Experience: Overall, the hope is to have a meaningful and memorable two days of programs. Focus is about building relationships, getting to know one another on a more diverse and deeper level, strengthening identity and connection with organizational values and behaviours, trust-building and fun! Weaving in stronger leadership, clear communication and team dynamics with learning about and respecting differences in leadership personalities, to then transfer back into the workplace in a good healthy manner, would be ideal.
Previous events have included: Professionally facilitated/led offsite programs or retreats have not been done in the past, however it is a hope going forward that the whole organization will undertake personal and professional development and training like this on an regular/annual basis.
Proposed Program for this year:
Based on our recent phone call, planning is just at the beginning stages at this point with exact agenda content and activities still TBD. For now, this is an initial proposal for two full days of experiential training and development.
Program Options: As discussed, we are including two days that are progressive and sequential so that we can build on the two experiences together. Mornings will include icebreaker and connection activities along with personal/group development workshops focused on fun Group Connection & Creative Leadership / Personality Styles, Emotional Intelligence or Communication; followed by one or two adventurous afternoon outdoor activity(ies) that may include the Low Ropes Course, Raft-building, Archery, Woodland Orienteering Adventure Race (Scavenger-hunt style), a competitive Team Spirit Challenge, or the High Ropes Course. *We have outlined two agendas/proposals with differing respective costs as discussed.

Connective
Interactive Training Workshops
Facilitated personal and professional development training topics. These may include Strategic Visioning & Values, Clear Communication=Clear Leadership, Creativity & Collaboration, Leadership Assessment Profiles & more. These sessions are often customized to fit your specific group dynamics as well as your organizational culture, learning and development goals. We ensure the training is relevant, transferable, refreshing and fun!
Serious Play
A series of fun indoor/outdoor facilitated activity-based team initiatives, for groups that require more focus on group dynamics, social interaction, team-work and fun! Competition is optional as is degree of facilitation (activity choice customized for each group based on group dynamics and training objectives).
The Marshmallow Challenge Workshop
This challenge is a world renown, fun and instructive exercise that encourages teams to experience simple but profound lessons in collaboration, creativity & innovation. This fast-paced activity inspires a shared learning experience, opening up various possibilities to achieve success - or not!
Orienteering Challenge
In teams, participants learn to use traditional orienteering methods along with a ‘landmark legend’ and a set of guidelines, to navigate through their environment towards a variety of creative check point stations (mystery team challenges). The initiatives and will require teams to plan, strategize, communicate effectively, and regularly re-evaluate their decisions!
Amazing Adventure Race
Be ready for a high-impact adventure-based ‘scavenger hunt-style’ experience! Teams are given a map, legend, course and clues and compete in a unique team adventure challenge, racing through the local trails and beautiful wilderness setting whilst finding and completing strategically hidden and customized checkpoint challenges and team building initiatives.
Amazing Adventure Race: Remote Radio Course
Each team will be split in two & given 2 radios along with maps and clues. The challenge will require teams to strategize carefully, make key decisions, adapt as needed, and communicate via radio in order to complete all creative challenges, checkpoints, and problem-solving tasks successfully. This is an intense experience that mirrors working as a remote team!
Team Spirit Challenge
An event where the whole group is together in the same area, and teams compete in series of unique high-energy, amazing ‘Survivor-like’ group challenges that require problem-solving, trust-building and creative teamwork solutions! With a fun, strength-based approach, this is a great event for including diverse needs and abilities. Always makes for awesome photos and memories!
Adventure Play at Loon Lake, Maple Ridge
A series of various adventure-based experiences and options from which participants can choose (ie. canoeing, raft-building, archery, low ropes and high ropes, rock climbing) that will help get people out of the board room and make any meeting or conference refreshing, interactive and fun! Paddle & Play Day
Paddle & Play is a unique land & water team-building event that combines your choice of one or several of our land-based activities with either traditional Voyageur Canoes or Dragon Boating. Teams will divide and take turns being on land and on water. They will compete in a series of challenges where teamwork, strategy, problem solving, collaboration, and a sense of fun are key to team and organizational success.
Dragon Boating Adventure
Paddling either 10 or 20-person canoes, and led by a professional team of dragon boat instructors, your group will benefit from the expertise of trained facilitators to help guide them through the basics of dragon boat paddling skills and learn to work together to paddle safely, paddle fast, and have tons of fun!
