Choose Your Own Adventure

Outdoor adventure experiences that build confidence, teamwork, resilience, and lifelong memories through exciting shared challenges.

HIGH ROPES

While wearing a harness and attached to a belay system, participants climb to platforms then navigate a series of obstacles 35 feet up off the ground. High Ropes provides the perfect medium to develop personal leadership, build confidence, and foster team support.

ROCK CLIMBING

Participants test their strengths while learning basic climbing techniques, professional belay methods, bouldering strategies, and spotting considerations. Rock climbing is symbolic of goal setting, personal challenge, and celebration.

LOW ROPES

A series of obstacles 2-3 feet above the forest floor featuring cables, ropes, and wooden platforms. Low ropes consists of intentionally facilitated exercises designed to challenge individuals and groups to work together, communicate effectively, problem-solve, and build trust.

CANOEING

In one of Canada’s most traditional pastimes, participants learn effective paddling techniques, master communication, play games, and discover the beautiful flora and fauna of Loon Lake from the water.

ARCHERY

In this highly enjoyable and historically significant sport, participants first learn bow and arrow anatomy and techniques, then move to shooting practice and games. Safety, goal setting, and personal challenge are key features of archery.

RAPPELLING

Participants learn the technical skills of self-belaying and how to control their descent as they enjoy the courage and confidence that rappelling down an 80-foot natural rock face overlooking the lake provides. Rappelling at Loon Lake is a truly thrilling experience!

RAFT-BUILDING

Using a variety of supplies, participants learn the components of designing and building a functional raft. Raft-Building requires groups to work together, communicate clearly, and strategize in order to keep afloat!

ORIENTEERING

Participants learn how to use a map and compass before going on a scavenger hunt that leads them to hidden check points around Loon Lake. Groups learn the value of effective teamwork as they navigate the trails and complete challenges together along the way.

SHELTER-BUILDING

Participants start by learning which factors make or break a shelter as well as the techniques necessary for creating a sturdy shelter in the middle of the forest. Groups then work together to design and build their own shelters using only a tarp, ropes, rocks, and branches.

Loon Lake, Where Adventure Learning Lives

Surrounded by forest, lake, and wilderness, Loon Lake gives young people the space to step outside their everyday environment, try something new, and connect differently with themselves and each other.

Pinnacle Pursuits brings that setting to life through intentionally designed experiences that combine adventure, challenge, reflection, and fun.

Learning Through Experience

Our programs are grounded in experiential learning and intentionally designed around the goals, dynamics, and needs of each group.

Drawing on Kolb’s Experiential Learning Cycle, participants move through a continuous process of experience, reflection, meaning-making, and application, helping turn memorable moments into learning they can carry forward.

The cycle continues as participants put their learning into action: creating new experiences, new reflection, and new opportunities for growth.

The result: active, relevant learning with the potential to extend far beyond the activity itself.

EXPERIENCE

Participate. Explore. Try.

Participants engage directly in an activity, challenge, or shared experience.

REFLECT

What happened? What did we notice?

Participants pause to reflect on their actions, responses, interactions, and the experience as a whole.

MAKE MEANING

What can we learn from this?

With purposeful facilitation, participants identify patterns, draw connections, and develop new understanding about themselves, their group, and the world around them.

APPLY

How can we use this learning going forward?

Participants consider how they can put new insights, strategies and behaviours into practice at school, in their relationships and in future challenges.
